The Big are Getting Bigger

One of the things I like the most about the cigar industry seems to be dying out. The knowledge that the cigar I am smoking today is the product of generations of cigar blenders and craftsman handed down in a family. This wonderful craft passed down from generation to generation, with pride and honor.
Today marks the loss of another family run cigar business.
It was announced today that General Cigars, part of the Scandinavian Tobacco Group is acquiring Torano.
I have had the great pleasure of meeting and spending time with Charlie and Jack Torano and also Sam Leccia, whose cigars are distributed by Torano. What these men all have in common is there sense of family and pride in their product.
How will this translate once general Cigars starts manufacturing the brand. Will it still be the same? Only time will tell.

For more on this story you can read the entire article on Halfwheel.com

I wish Charlie, Jack and, Sam and the entire Torano Cigar family all the best in their future endeavors.
